In our current culture, there is a lot of pressure to be the one with all the answers. The expert, the go-to, or the decision-maker.
Far more valuable is the person who asks the right questions, elicits the right information, or assembles the right team.
The ability to figure out what hasn’t been figured out, see what hasn’t been seen, or empower those who have not been empowered is a significant advantage.
Accepting that we don’t always have the full picture is the first step. It takes a healthy dose of confidence and humility to admit what we don’t know, making it all the more important to ask the right questions.
